Dr. William Turk was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He studied medicine at the University of Manitoba where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology and served as Chief Resident. Dr. Turk completed fellowship training in Oculoplastics, Lacrimal and Orbital surgery at the University Hospital of Wales as well as a fellowship in Oculoplastics, Orbit and Ocular Oncology at the University of Calgary.
Dr Turk is passionate about the intersection of innovation, patient care and medical education. He was the co-inventor of a 3D printed strabismus surgical model which has been used internationally to train hundreds of Ophthalmologists in advanced techniques, and was featured on the cover of the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He continues to be active in the area of 3D printing and also integrates this in to his clinical practice with complex orbital cases.
Dr. Turk has been recognized as one of Canada’s Top 20 Under 20, featured on CTV and the CBC, named one of Manitoba’s Future 40, and named in Maclean’s Magazine as one of Canada’s 25 Leaders of Tomorrow.
