Dr. Belliveau completed medical school at the University of Ottawa where he was awarded best student in Surgery and top average in his class. He then pursued a research fellowship in ophthalmic pathology gaining deep and fundamental understanding of diseases affecting the eye and surrounding tissues. As a resident in ophthalmology at Queen’s University, he ranked in the top 1% of North American residents in the knowledge assessment examination.
Dr. Belliveau completed 2 years of extensive training in Oculoplastic & Orbital Surgery at the University of Toronto in the only Canadian fellowship program certified by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. He was trained by experts in the fields of Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery, Endoscopic Lacrimal (Tear Duct) Surgery, and Pediatric Eyelid Surgery.
In 2015, Dr. Belliveau was appointed as Associate Staff at The Ottawa Hospital and Assistant Professor at the University of Ottawa. He has an ongoing commitment to advancing his field, reads voraciously, and has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles. He regularly presents at national and international scientific meetings.
Dr. Belliveau’s Ottawa practice is limited exclusively to surgery of the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit. Treatment recommendations are customized to individual patient needs and executed with meticulous detail and care. His extensive training, surgical experience, and aesthetic sense have helped build a thriving practice.
