Bio:

Dr Ahsen Hussain is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Dalhousie University. Dr. Hussain completed his medical school and ophthalmology training in the United Kingdom. During residency, he was awarded the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Ethicon and Dorey-Lister Awards for a research fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA. After residency, he undertook a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead, UK followed by the two-year ASOPRS Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship in Toronto, Canada.

Dr Hussain’s practice specializes in surgery of the orbit, eyelids, and lacrimal systems in adults and children, with special interests in oncology, facial nerve palsy and lacrimal surgery. He has published numerous articles in the peer- reviewed literature and presented both nationally and internationally. In addition to helping train residents, he is one of the few members of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a member of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS).
